
Monsoons bring along a lot of natural products that benefit overall health. The seasonal food items and recipes help us stay in sync with the climate too. Celebrity nutritionist Rujuta Diwekar shared a monsoon food guide in her latest Instagram post. She captioned the social media upload as, “The grains, pulses, vegetables and special preparations you must-have in these four months of chaturmaas/ chaumasa.” The food guide comes in three parts. Rujuta also gave three recipes that are specially prepared during the monsoon season in Maharashtra.

The first part of the guide includes food that one must have at least 2-3 times per week. Boiled peanuts or corn fall into this category. Soaked and sprouted pulses can be used to make sabji and dal. Dudhi, pumpkin, cucumber and such creeper veggies are also listed. Root vegetables like suran and arbi are also recommended by Rujuta.
The second category has food that should be consumed at least once every week. Rajgeera or kuttu are a part of this part. Uncultivated vegetables like Ambadi and Alu have their own advantages.
Rujuta's list of must-have food once a month includes some delicious local recipes. Steamed preparations like patoli, modak, bafla, siddu make the cut. Monsoons are about pakodas and bhajiyas but Rujuta suggested preparing those out of ghosala, mayalu and ajwain. If you are a fan of pickles then wild mushrooms, lingdi or bamboo can be picked this rainy season. You can also try the amazing recipes of arbi chi kaap, ambadi chi bhaji and modak.
Recently, Rujuta shared common mistakes that most of them commit while eating fruits. The nutritionist advised her followers to eat fruits without mixing them. She also said that a big no to the usage of forks and promotes eating fruits using hands.
