Care and Share Food Bank is teaming up with Kaiser Permanente for a one day mobile food bank distribution in Pueblo. Volunteers and staff from both organizations will be giving out food Thursday, Aug. 24th, from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. across the street from Risley Middle School at the intersection of 6th Street and Monument Ave.
It is a first come first serve basis and will end when all of the food is handed out. The mobile food pantry will offer a variety of in-season produce, snacks, drinks and bread.
"Kids are back in the classroom again, and many families had to dig deeper into their budgets for school supplies and those back-to-school necessities. We want to make sure individuals, families, and children don't have to worry about where their next meal is coming from, and that they have access to nutritious food," said Lynne Telford, Care and Share President and CEO.
"Hunger is an important health issue to Kaiser Permanente because studies show that the lack of access to healthy food results in poor nutrition, which affects overall health of thousands of Southern Colorado residents" said Troy Stubbings, Pharm.D, Kaiser Permanente's Southern Colorado director of business operations and market expansion. "Kaiser Permanente is dedicated to improving the health of our members and the communities we serve and are proud to support the Care and Share food pantry, which aligns with our nonprofit mission to build healthier communities."
