JAMES Martin has taken aim at food bloggers for “preaching” about what people should eat.
The celebrity chef – who used to host Saturday Kitchen Live for a decade – didn’t hold back when he was asked to give his opinion.
Speaking to The Radio Times about the rise of bloggers, James said: “They’re preaching about health food and telling people what to eat.
“I don’t agree with that. You’re not a doctor so keep your mouth shut.
“You’re not even a cook. I don’t know what you are!”
The 45-year-old also revealed he thought the market for TV chefs had become far too saturated and blamed cooking competitions.
James continued: “There’s too many of us now. When I first started there were about eight of us doing it, now there’s bloody 108.
“There’s loads of them – winner of this, second of this, third of this and seventh in this competition– they’re all doing it now.”
One show he’s happy to keep on the box is The Great British Bake Off however, with James admitting he is a big fan.
James continued: “Prue did an amazing job. A good format will stand the test of time.
“It’s a TV show, it can move from channel to channel. People will find it. If they don’t like it, they’ll find something else.”
Last month, James revealed he was returning with a new ITV show which will go up against Saturday Kitchen Live.
Speaking about his new venture, Saturday Morning With James Martin, he The Sun: “It’s a year and a half since I left Saturday Kitchen and my mother kept wittering on at me: ‘You need to be back on a Saturday morning’ – hence I’m back on a Saturday morning.
“It’s pre-recorded but I think after 10 years of getting up at 3am on a Saturday I’ve done my live stint, I don’t need to prove myself any more.”
