Healthy food, positive emotions - FreshPlaza.com

Fruits and vegetables are essential in a healthy and balanced diet. In addition to providing nutritional benefits, they also provide emotional benefits. According to a survey recently carried out by Florette with the aim of deepening the perception that Spaniards have about how their diet can influence their emotions, 71% of people who consume fruit and vegetables on a daily basis say they feel happier since they have adopted this diet.

57% of the people said they were aware that these products made them feel better physically and emotionally. 30% of those surveyed say they feel calmer. Likewise, a quarter of Spaniards said they had less anxiety and stress. 27% said they had more energy, and 18% said they were less irritable. This implies there is a direct relationship between a diet rich in these foods and positive emotions.

According to Mareva Gillioz, integrative dietitian and coach specialized in food and emotional well-being, this is because our brain and intestine are closely related. "Our gut microbiota modulates our emotional health and well-being. When our intestines suffer from inflammation and discomfort due to what we eat, it also affects our minds. For this reason, and also because it contains its own neurons, the intestine is often referred to as the 'second brain'," the expert stated.

What else makes us happy?
According to the participants, the top 3 things that improve their happiness are eating a healthy and balanced diet, exercising, and listening to music. In addition, 8 out of 10 Spaniards say they feel happier knowing that they contribute to caring for the environment.
