Hamilton College culinary team teaches healthy food choices to Scouts

Cub Scouts Pack 50 of Rome received a Healthy Kids food demonstration, and learned culinary skills on Nov. 6 during a session with chefs from Bon Appetit Management Company at Hamilton College in Clinton.

The demonstration was held at the First United Methodist Church, 400 N. George St.

The Bon Appetit team covered the plant cycle, proper hand washing and taste testing with a parsnip and star fruit.

The Cub Scouts were involved in the making of hummus for their lettuce wraps. Concluding the demonstration were knife skills.

Safety was reviewed, and the Scouts were on their way to cutting their vegetables for their lettuce wraps.

Cub Scout Wyatt Boisen said, “I’m chefing it up today,” in response to his newly learned culinary skills.
