WACO, TX (KXXV) -

Starting Saturday, the Waco Downtown Farmers Market will match up to 20 dollars on Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program funding used in one visit.

The matched money can be used to buy locally-grown fruits and vegetables. The Double Up Food Bucks is a program part of the Fair Network in Michigan, which has expanded to 23 states.

"We're excited because it offers another nutrition incentive for folks to come out and use their government benefits and support local farmers at the same time." WDFM Market Manager Bethel Erickson-Bruce said.

The Waco-McLennan County Public Health District is giving the market $1,500 for the three-month pilot program. To find out ways to support the program after July, visit this website
