CM wants nutritious, healthy food for Children

Chief Minister of Uttarakhand, Trivendra Singh Rawat laid the foundation stone of the centralised kitchen system for Mid Day Meal (MDM) scheme at Suddhowala here on Monday. Termed Akshay Patra Yojana, the centralised kitchen would be operated under joint aegis of Hans Foundation and Akshay Patra Foundation.

Speaking on the occasion, Rawat appreciated the scheme and said that if children are provided nutritious and healthy food then there would be a positive effect on their health.

He lauded the efforts of Mangala Mata and Hans foundation for implementing the scheme. Rawat said that the centralised kitchen in Suddhowala would have four units. He said that the scheme would be implemented in other areas as well.  Under the scheme, 3.58 lakh students of 3729 schools of Suddhowala, Doiwala, Haridwar, Roorkee, Kashipur, Gadarpur and Sitarganj would be provided MDM. The kitchen of Suddhowala would cater 26000 students of 461 schools. The State Govt has provided land to the foundation to set up centralised kitchens.

The founder of Hans Foundation, Mangala Mata said that hot nutritious food would be provided to the students within 40 minutes. She said that the students would be able to eat hot and healthy food in the MDM now.

The Education minister Arvind Pandey, Urban Development Min Madan Kaushik, Tehri MP Mala Rajya Laxmi Shah, Founder of Hans Foundation Bhole Maharaj, MLAs Sahdev Singh Pundeer, Munna Singh Chauhan and others were also present on the occasion.
