Tot Yoga, healthy food, and drumming at Fredonia Farmers' Market on Saturday

The Summer is heating up and so are the events at the Fredonia Farmers Market. On Saturday, several activities will complement customer shopping at the market.

Rebecca Joy will host a tot-kid yoga class from 10 to 11 a.m. in Barker Common. A certified kids yoga instructor, Joy has taught yoga at Yoga Underground in Dunkirk, and has practiced yoga personally for 16 years. Bring a yoga mat or towel and a $3 suggested donation. Toddlers should have an adult accompany them for the class.

Nutritionist Stephanie Caputo from Eat Smart New York nutritionist will host a cooking demonstration at 11 a.m. She will show how to use locally grown produce in a tasty dish that learners will easily be able to make at home. She’ll be sharing tastes, recipes, and smart vegetable and fruit shopping tips.

Rich Schuler and Steve Bell will lead those present in group hand drumming from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. This includes playing African rhythms and doing some free form drumming with audience participation. Participants can join in the rhythm making. No experience is needed and drums are provided.

The Fredonia Farmers Market is a nonprofit organization whose mission is to provide a marketplace for high quality locally grown food and handcrafted products for the community, offer healthy food options, promote a strong local economy, and contribute to the preservation of small family farms. Local vendors sell fresh produce and fruits, humanely raised meats and poultry, honey, maple products, free-range eggs, goat milk products, bread, baked goods, fresh flowers, knitted wear, beach glass jewelry, baskets, and much more. EBT benefits are accepted at the Fredonia Farmers Market for approved food items. Produce vendors participate in the NYS Farmers Market Nutrition Program (FMNP), Women Infants and Children Vegetables and Fruits Program (WIC VF), Double Up Food Bucks, (DUFB) Program and SNAP (EBT).
