Local kids can get their hands on healthy food - KitchenerToday.com

Call it a Meals on Wheels, but for kids, just in time for March Break.

Nutrition for Learning is providing a mobile version of their program that provides healthy snacks to school children.

"We'll be offering snacks like yogurt, granola bars, everything pre-packaged so nothing is actually touched," says Brian Banks, Community Development with Nutrition for Learning.

"Our volunteers will be going down certain streets, and they'll be having volunteers walking with coolers and whatnot, and asking students to keep their distance from each other, and they're more than welcome to a snack."

Banks says they'll be using public health as their guideline, and will expand according to what their funding and rules allow.

"We'll be monitoring this daily to make sure that everything is safe and proper."

Banks says they will be posting their routes every morning on their website, as well as on their Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.

He says the van will be in parts of Cambridge Monday, Kitchener-Waterloo Tuesday and will see where things are from there.
