Healthy Food For Homeless Students Over Spring Break

BEAVERTON, Ore–

Bethel Congregational Church along with Holy Trinity Church, Jesuit High School, St. Cecelia Church and the Beaverton High School Community Team will provide meals for approximately 110 (up from 92 in December) homeless students for spring break. Shelf stable food is provided for students to have during the 9 days the Beaverton School District kitchen is closed. This program started because Principal Anne Erwin worries about these students and asked for the support. Note that there is a 20% jump in the number of homeless students just since Dec. 2017.

The food will be packed at Bethel Church at 5140 SW Watson  transported to Beaverton High so the counselors can distribute the food to homeless students. Gift cards are also provided so students can buy some fresh food. A Sewing club made students heavy canvas bags to hold books, computers and personal belongings. The BHS Community Team goal is to support students so they are better prepared to learn and graduate from High School.
