Farmers and others in the community came together on Thursday for the Second Annual Food Ag and Equity Conference to learn more about healthily and locally grown food options.

This event was hosted by The Southwest Georgia Project to create partnerships, and let people in the community know what they have in the area.

People watched a cooking demonstration and were able to taste test some of the items. Local vendors with healthy snacks, jams, and even wine were there as well to help people pick better options.

“You need have a good balance diet of fruit vegetables, dairy, a little bit of everything,” Community Coordinator DeVynne Starks said. “When you have a well-rounded diet, that’s what helps you become a better version of yourself

Friday will be part two for the conference. At 8:30 a.m., there will be an exercise session at the Hilton Garden Inn in Downtown Albany. It is free and open to the public.
